A holiday home site being built in memory of Sunderland youngster Bradley Lowery has been broken into for the second time in just three weeks.

The Bradley Lowery Foundation has been left heartbroken as it confirmed there was a ‘soul-destroying’ break-in at their holiday home building site on Wednesday night (March 13) resulting in damage to the property and theft of equipment.

Announced through The Bradley Lowery Foundation Facebook page, the building site of their charities holiday home, named Super Brads Pad in Scarborough, was broken into last night (Wednesday, March 13) despite the charity installing CCTV cameras.

The perpetrators entered the building site and cut the cables on the newly installed CCTV.

Co founder of The Bradley Lowery Foundation, Lynn Murphy told The Northern Echo: “It is becoming extremely upsetting to think, a charity holiday home, being built to give families memorable experiences with their poorly child would be targeted.”

This comes after the site was broken into for the first time on the evening of Tuesday, February 27, where six gas bottles and a wet vacuum were stolen.

The charity has said that the break-ins have added to the costs as they must repair damage to the site and replace equipment.

Lynn added: "Coming out of Covid, we already had the bad news that build was going to cost us more money, almost tripling in cost, but we also know, a holiday home like this will benefit so many families, so we continued with the plans, stage by stage of the build. 

"There is nothing of any real value left on the site on an evening, this new break-in, has seen the CCTV being vandalised, with nothing taken. 

"It is just mindless, unnecessary damage, that takes more money away from the actual build, to have to continue to keep repairing things that become damaged. It’s utterly soul-destroying to think people could be so heartless”

Super Brads Pad is a holiday home being built in Scarborough, for families with a child that has a terminal illness to be able to stay at the home and enjoy a holiday.

Explaining the plans for the home on their Just Giving page, The Bradley Lowery Foundation said: “We are building a dream holiday home for families and children to create some amazing memories together while out of hospital.

“Families can spend days, weeks, months in hospital with a seriously ill child and being able to have a short getaway makes the world of difference to all of the families.”

Sunderland football fan Bradley captured the nation’s heart in his battle with neuroblastoma and sadly succumbed to the illness in 2017, just six years old.

A trip to Scarborough was the last holiday Bradley was able to take with his family a few weeks before his passing.

The Foundations is calling on nearby caravan sites to stay alert to the break-ins and have asked anyone living in the area of Burniston Road to check their CCTV footage.

Anyone who has spotted something suspicious should report their findings to the police.
