Two more people have been arrested in connection with a hit and run investigation that left a 78-year-old pedestrian in a critical condition in hospital.
The incident happened on Northallerton High Street on Tuesday (March 12) and involved a car and a pedestrian.
The car, which is believed to be a small black hatchback, failed to stop and left the scene.
The 78-year-old pedestrian was taken to hospital where he remains in critical condition.
A short time after the incident, officers from North Yorkshire Police attended another collision on Scholla Lane involving a vehicle that had flipped into a field.
Two men from the car were arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop in connection to the collision on the High Street.
They have been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

On Thursday (March 14), the police force said that further arrests had been made over the incident in Northallerton.
A woman and another man have also been arrested in connection with the collision.
They remain in custody at this time.
North Yorkshire Police have also urged for witnesses to come forward in connection with the incident.
