Five County Durham speeders have been fined in court this week after breaking the speed limits on roads in the county.
All five of the motorists appeared at Peterlee Magistrates' Court, where they were fined and handed penalty points on their licences - totalling £2000.
Here are those that appeared in court:
Ian Batey, 37 - Fieldside, Pelton, Chester le Street, Durham
On August 14, 2023, at Crook, drove a motor vehicle, a Ford, on a restricted road, namely South Terrace, Low Jobs Hill, at a speed exceeding 30 miles per hour. He was fined £115, ordered to pay a surcharge of £46 and costs of £90 - totalling £251.
Michael Britton, 27 - The Fallows, Cockfield, Bishop Auckland
On August 12, 2023 at Crook, drove a motor vehicle, an Audi on a restricted road, namely C18a Hargill Road, Howden le Wear, at a speed exceeding 30 miles per hour. He was fined £61, ordered to pay a surcharge of £24 and costs of £90 - totalling £175.
Lesley Eagleton, 59 - Linburn Beck, Hamsterley, Bishop Auckland
On August 12, 2023, at High Etherley, drove a motor vehicle, namely a Mercedes, on a restricted road, namely the A68, at a speed exceeding 30 miles per hour. She was fined £147, ordered to pay a surcharge of £58 and costs of £90 - totalling £295.

Rachel Elizabeth Kirton, 46, Elmdene, Morley, Cockfield, Bishop Auckland
On August 12, 2023, at Crook drove a motor vehicle, namely a Kia, on a restricted road, namely C18a Hargill Road, Howden le Wear, at a speed exceeding 30 miles per hour. He was fined £294, ordered to pay a surcharge of £117 and costs of £90 - totalling £501.
Lisa Nicholson, 34 - Victoria Terrace, Trimdon Colliery, Trimdon Station
On August 14, 2023, at Trimdon Grange, drove a motor vehicle, namely a Mini, on a restricted road, namely B1278 Salters Lane to Lillie Terrace, at a speed exceeding 30 miles per hour. He was fined £440, ordered to pay a surcharge of £176 and costs of £90 - totalling £706.
