It’s that time of the year again when the iconic RAF Red Arrows have released their 2024 schedule but will they be coming to the North East?
Over the last few years, the famous group of aircraft has made an appearance at the AJ Bell Great North Run which usually takes place in September.
Those taking part in the world’s biggest half-marathon or who plan on spectating at the event this year might be wondering if they will be in for a chance to see the Red Arrows flypast above the Tyne Bridge.
They will be doing several flypasts as well as displays across the UK throughout the year from HM The King’s Birthday Flypast in June to the Blackpool Airshow in August.
However, as it stands the newly published Red Arrows schedule shows no date for the Great North Run on September 8.
Why are the Red Arrows not performing at Great North Run 2024?
Instead, the announced dates show they will be at the Aero Gatineau-Ottawa in Canada.
In fact, the Red Arrows will be in Canada throughout most of September, performing at the Canadian International Air Show and Airshow London too.

How to apply for Great North Run 2024
The 2024 Great North Run ballot has been drawn and confirmed as the “biggest ever” according to the Great Run website.
But although the ballot has now closed, you can still take part in the 13.1-mile run.
It added: “If you missed out on a ballot place, you can still join us on the start line. There are lots of incredible organisations who would love to have you on their team at this year’s AJ Bell Great North Run.”
You can see a list of all the charities looking for runners to raise money on the Great Run website and choose from the British Heart Foundation, Cancer Research UK, Blood Cancer UK and more.
