Police have confirmed they have been comforting the family of Lewis Penfold-Roche after a body has been found in the River Tees near Tees Barrage.
Police officers received a call at 3.20pm alerting them to a body being found.
No formal identification has been carried out but the family of missing 18-year-old Lewis Penfold-Roche have been informed.
They are continuing to be supported by specialist officers.

A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: "Officers today (Monday 11th March) received a call around 3:20pm after the body of a man was sadly found in the river near Tees Barrage in Stockton.
"Whilst no formal identification has yet taken place, the family of missing 18-year-old Lewis Penfold-Roche from Billingham have been informed and continue to be supported by specially trained officers.
"Our thoughts remain with them at this extremely difficult time."
