Seven homeowners have been fined in court for failing to clear up litter in their gardens and littering on the streets.
The offenders, who are from County Durham and Tyne and Wear, all appeared at Peterlee Magistrates' Court and were fined for their littering offences.
Here are those who were fined:
- Dionne Cherry, of Murray Park, Stanley has been prosecuted for depositing litter. They were issued a Fixed Penalty Notice of £150 on 17/10/2023 however this was unpaid therefore a casefile was prepared for the courts. They now have a total of £438 to pay for the offence.
- George Allison, of Lilac Square, Bournmoor has ben prosecuted for faily to comply with a Community Protection Notice in relation to waste in their garden. They now have a total of £726 in fines and costs to pay.
- Jack Gleghorn, of Standerton Terrace, Stanley has been prosecuted for depositing litter. They were issued a Fixed Penalty Notice of £150 on 17/10/2023 however this was unpaid therefore a casefile was prepared for the courts. They now have a total of £438 to pay for the offence.
- Patrick Morgan, of Shakespeare Street, Jarrow has been prosecuted for vehicle abandonment in Hilda Terrace, Chester Le Street. They now have a total of £1354 to pay in fines and costs.

- Rebecca Bage, of Beech Terrace, Eldon Lane, Bishop Auckland, has been prosecuted for failing to comply with a Community Protection Notice in relation to waste in their garden. They now have a total of £626 in fines and costs to pay.
- Jack Fucile, of Kirkland Hill, Peterlee, has been prosecuted for failing to comply with a Community Protection Notice in relation to waste in their garden. They now have a total of £803 in fines and costs to pay.
- IBN Holdings, of Durham Road, Bishop Auckland, has been pecuted for failing to comply with a Community Protection Notice in relation to waste in their garden. They now have a total of £946 in fines and costs to pay.
