A man has been arrested after police found him trying to hide down the back of a sofa.
David Appleton, known to some as Reggie Cooper, was arrested at an address in Gilesgate, in Durham, on Friday after a spate of crime in the city.
He was latest charged with four offences including theft of a motor vehicle, shoplifting and driving offences.
The 24-year-old, of Gilesgate, appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates Court on Saturday (March 6) where he admitted the offences.
Magistrates sentenced him to 16 weeks in prison.
Detective Sergeant Ryan Harrison, of Durham City Volume Crime Team, said: “We’d like to thank the public for their support in sharing our wanted media appeal, which helped lead to an arrest.”
