Dramatic pictures show the severity of a car crash that closed a road in Stockton for hours.
Yarm Road, in Stockton, was shut by police following an incident reported to be a single-car collision.
Yarm Road was closed around 1.30am early this morning (Sunday, March 3), between Witham Avenue and Station Road, Eaglescliffe. Motorists were urged to avoid the area and to find different routes where possible.
Residents nearby report that the road remains closed.

The car collided with a wall and fence outside a residential property at the intersection of Yarm Road and Ashville Avenue.
During their investigation, officers were seen collecting debris and putting it into evidence bags.
A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: " Yarm Road remains closed between Witham Avenue and Station Road Eaglescliffe to allow collision investigation work to take place.
"Drivers are being urged to avoid the area if possible, or find an alternative route. Thank you for your co-operation."
The fire brigade and ambulance service have been contacted for more information.
