A popular Darlington bakery is getting a new manager and staying open after reports that it would close at the end of the month.
Bank Top Bakery on Victoria Road in Darlington was rumoured to be closing when staff announced that they would not be taking orders.
Hundreds of comments poured in on social media by customers devastated by the news.
Gareth Percival said: "Absolutely gutted, Bank Top Bakery is amazing.
"Please don't go."
However, the latest update provides much better news for fans of Bank Top Bakery.
Tracey Smith posted an update on the situation: "Just to let people know that Bank Top Bakery will not be closing!
"A new manager has taken over but all the staff are the same bringing you the same quality as always!"
