Durham County Council has won national acclaim for its efforts to support the Armed Forces community.
The North East's largest council has been re-awarded the Ministry of Defence's (MOD) Gold Award, which signifies employers promoting positive attitudes and policies for serving and former members of the Armed Forces.
Presented by Major Stephen Simpson, Executive Officer, 8th Battalion, The Rifles, the accolade was received by the council’s Chair, Cllr Joan Nicholson, and its Armed Forces champion, Cllr Robert Potts.
Cllr Nicholson said: "It is an honour to be presented with this award.
