Foodies in one North East city are in for a treat in just a few weeks as restaurant week returns for another year - here's all the details.

Restaurant week is returning to Sunderland this year and a whole host of eateries serving up tasty grub have a multitude of offers to take advantage of.

Whether your favourite is a traditional fish and chips or you prefer an incredible Italian dish, you're sure to find a deal from March 16-24 across the city.

Each restaurant has a specially created Restaurant Week menu, offering diners special deals on dishes on average from £10 to £20 per person.

On its website, organisers Sunderland BID say: "Our popular event that allows foodies to enjoy a whole host of cuisines is back again.

"Restaurant Week showcases the best eateries across the city, allowing them to show off their delicious and enviable menus. Dine out in a great range of cafes and restaurants for as little as £10, £15 or £20pp.

"While we already have an incredible line-up, keep your eyes that are bigger than your belly peeled for more announcements!"

The last restaurant week took place in the city in September 2023, and bosses calculated that the seven-day extravaganza boosted the local economy by £500,000.

Sharon Appleby, Chief Executive of Sunderland BID, said last September that Restaurant Week continues to be a hugely popular event in the city.

"We were delighted back in March with how successful Sunderland Restaurant Week was but to see that this time round we’ve once again grown the effect on the local economy is phenomenal," she said.

"It has had such an impact on the dining scene in the city and gives people the opportunity to return to a favourite restaurant or to visit somewhere new for the first time."
