Police want to trace a man in connection with a racially aggravated assault at a bar in Newcastle that saw a man slapped around the face.
Officers investigating a report of racially aggravated assault in Newcastle have released an image of a man they would like to trace.
At about 5.30 pm on Friday, September 8, 2023, police received a report of assault which is alleged to have taken place in Spy Bar, on Osborne Road, in the Jesmond area.
It was reported that following a disagreement, a man slapped another man, causing reddening to the victim’s cheek and ear.
The offender is also reported to have racially abused the victim.
Extensive enquiries have been carried out since officers were first informed of the report.

Officers have today (Wednesday, February 28) released an image of a man they would like to trace in connection with the report.
He was in the area at the time the alleged assault took place and it is believed he may be able to assist officers with their enquiries.
A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "The man, or anyone who knows who he is, should use the ‘Report’ page of the Northumbria Police website or call 101, quoting crime reference number 113711H/23."
