The attempted murder of a teenage girl who was chased by her attacker in the street and stabbed with steak knives after she broke off their online relationship was featured in a Channel 5 series this week.

Viewers were finally given the first episode of the 12-part series Inside the Force on Monday (February 26), which takes a look behind the scenes of the force at Middlesbrough Police station.

Throughout the programme, camera crews follow officers on jobs across the town as well as the investigations and trials that follow, eventually detailing any sentences and charges brought upon arrested suspects.

In the first episode, the stabbing of a 15-year-old girl by 23-year-old student Ellis Dismore in June 2023 - and his subsequent charging - was showcased.

Police and emergency services were pictured in the episode outside Corpus Christi Primary School responding to the scene where the teen suffered "deep stab wounds" and was subsequently rushed to hospital.

Also at the scene was the young girl's mother whose frantic 999 call to the emergency services was played to viewers.

Later, the episode delved into the homicide team as they gathered evidence for the case, frantically pulling together a case for the Crown Prosecution Service who later charged him with attempted murder.

The investigating team watched footage of Mr Dismore in a hardware store where he purchased knives, and later tracked his movements from Middlesbrough Bus Station to the scene.

They later watched dashcam footage from a motorist who stopped at the scene upon seeing a commotion and is heard shouting "get off" as the girl gets into the car.

Viewers were also allowed later to listen to graphic voice messages the team believed were from Mr Dismore.

They said: "Then, I'll get a f***ing knife and stab her straight in the f***ing heart as she's bleeding and she's saying: 'Please don't. Please don't' as I f***ing kill her. That's exactly what I'll f***ing do."

Investigators on the case secured an attempted murder charge for Mr Dismore on June 24 as the episode came to a conclusion and he was remanded into custody.

Later, during the trial in December 2023, Nick Dry, prosecuting, described Mr Dismore as a 'sexual predator' after targeting the teenager despite knowing her true age.

Detailing the attack, he said: “CCTV and dashcam footage showed the defendant in hot pursuit as she fled, screaming, and shouting for help.

“She fell to the ground as the defendant closed in for the kill - all of this happened in broad daylight.

“She managed to get to her feet when a passing motorist, alerted by her screaming, stopped to intervene.

“She got into the car just as the defendant stabbed her in the back and chest.”

He was also found guilty of three counts of making indecent images of children and a further six charges of distributing indecent images of children after he posted intimate images of the teenager on social media.
