A man allegedly assaulted a taxi driver before kicking his car door after he was refused a discounted fare.
The incident happened shortly after 1.10am on December 29 last year on High Street East in Wallsend, North Tyneside.
It was reported the offender got into the taxi and asked the driver for a discounted rate, but when this was refused went on to assault him.
The man got out of the taxi but returned a short time later allegedly kicking the driver’s side door, causing substantial damage to the taxi.
Detectives have today released this picture of a man who was in the area at the time and they believe may be able to assist their investigation.
They are also appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “The man, or anyone who recognises him, is asked to contact police via the 'Report' page on the Northumbria Police website or by calling 101, quoting reference number NP-20231229-0037.”
