Police have launched an investigation after a woman was reportedly raped in Tynemouth.
The woman is being supported by specialist officers following reports of a rape yesterday afternoon (Sunday, February 25).
Northumbria Police said the incident happened shortly before 4pm in the Tynemouth Priory and Castle area.
A spokesperson for the force said: “Shortly after 3.50pm on Sunday, February 25, we received a report of rape in the Tynemouth Priory and Castle area of Tynemouth.

“An investigation was immediately launched by police, and the female victim is being supported by specially-trained officers.
“Enquiries are ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact police using the ‘Report’ page of our website or call 101, quoting reference number: NP-20240225-0648.”
