An investigation has been launched after a beloved community library was vandalised.
Durham Police have confirmed they are investigating damage done to a telephone box community library in Spennymoor between 7pm and 9pm on February 14.
They said two glass panels had been broken and books thrown all over the road.
A Durham Police spokesperson said: “Spennymoor Police are currently investigating the damage to this lovely community library.

“On 14th February between 19:00hrs and 21:00hrs, unknown person/persons have mindlessly broken two of the glass panels and thrown the books all over the road.
“This library has been restored and maintained by a local resident and is a huge asset to the village.
“If anyone has any information or CCTV regarding this incident, please call 101 and quote CRI00528995.”
