Car struck deer on the A170 in Wass as fire service on scene

Firefighters and police attended the A170 in Wass, near Helmsley, at about 8am, following reports that a car had struck the animal and had been forced to pull over to the side of the road. 

After arriving on the scene, all of the people in the vehicle at the time of the incident had left the car and were in the care of the police. 

Firefighters that attended the scene weren't required during the incident.

It's understood that no one was injured during the crash, and the police helped the people involved with the rest of the incident.

According to the North Yorkshire and Fire and Rescue Service logs, there was no update about how badly the vehicle was damaged - but recovery of the car was needed.

A spokesperson for the fire service added: "A crew from Helmsley responded to a report of a single vehicle RTC in which the vehicle had struck a deer.

"Crews located the vehicle and found that all occupants were out of the vehicle and there was no fire service action required. The incident was left with the police and owner arranging recovery."
