A fire which tore through an abandoned North East care home left part of its roof destroyed as five fire engines worked to put out the flames.
Emergency services called to the blaze at the derelict Admiral Court Care Home on Cleveland Road, West View in Hartlepool (February 22) shortly before 3pm this afternoon(Thursday, February 22) .
Pictures from the scene showed plumes of smoke coming out of the building before it was brought under control.
Now, the extent of the damage can be seen in one part of the building, where the roof has been burned off, with the top floor is now exposed.
The cause of the fire remains unknown.
A spokesperson said: "Cleveland Fire Brigade were called on 22/02/2024 at 14.53 to an incident on Cleveland Road, West View in Hartlepool.
"Five fire engines are in attendance from Hartlepool, Stockton, Redcar, and Billingham. Roof well alight. Police, Fire Brigade and NEAS all in attendance. More updates to follow."

The North East Ambulance were also called to the scene, and remained on site with the fire brigade.
A NEAS spokesperson said: "We were called just after 3pm to a property fire on Cleveland Road, Hartlepool.
"We have dispatched two resources from our Hazardous Area Response Team who are at the scene to be available on standby if required."
