A power cut to around 500 properties has left hundreds without power for nearly 15 hours, as engineers are still working to fix a faulty cable.
The power cut, which is currently impacting 140 homes in the DL6 (Ingleby Barwick), DL7 (Northallerton), DL8 (Leeming Bar) and YO7 (Thirsk) without power since 9.30 pm yesterday night.
Currently, the Northern Powergrid website reports that engineers are still undertaking repair work, and that power is expected to be restored by 4 pm.
Customer support vans are out in the impacted areas providing help to residents who may need it.
A spokeswoman for Northern Powergrid said: “At around 9.30 pm last night (20 February) we were made aware of a power cut affecting around 500 customers in the YO7 and DL8 area. Our teams switched electricity through alternative routes on our network to successfully restore power to more than 370 customers.
“We have located the underground cable fault, and we are keeping our customers who are still affected fully informed of what we are doing to restore their power.
“Whilst our teams coordinate the necessary repairs, we are fitting generators on our network so we can get their power back on.
"We have sent our customers text updates and one of our Proactive Customer Responders was in the community supporting residents early this morning - especially our priority services customers who may be more vulnerable in a power cut due to their medical or personal circumstances.
