A PRIMARY school has submitted plans to Darlington Borough Council to build an extension.
The plans, at Heighington Church of England Primary School, include building two flat roofed infill extensions and construction of external tensile fabric covered canopy, with associated hard landscaping and internal works.
A design and access statement has been prepared by Eddisons on behalf of Durham and Newcastle Diocesan Learning Trust to support a planning application for two small infill flat roofed extensions to create a new reception classroom facility and associated toilet facilities and a tensile fabric external covered canopy to the existing play area.

The existing main school building is mainly single storey with a small section that is two storey.
Most of the school is at the same level internally but there is a section of the ground floor of the school that is at a slightly higher level.

The extensions are required in order to accommodate some internal alterations and to increase the floor area slightly to convert a classroom to a reception classroom with associated toilet facilities that will be shared with an existing adjacent classroom.
