Another planning application submitted by a retailing giant has been approved as it moves closer to its summer opening at Teesside Park.
Stockton Borough Council (SBC) approved Primark’s latest planning application for their Unit 11 store on Monday (February 19).
The application concerned the erection of a canopy above the existing side door of the unit.
The plans have been approved subject to the retailer completing the development within three years of permission being granted.
An SBC spokesperson said: "The Local Planning Authority found the submitted details satisfactory subject to the imposition of appropriate planning conditions and has worked positively and proactively in dealing with the planning application."
The retailer is set to open in summer this year after signs confirming the opening plans went up in January.
Primark was granted previous planning permission to extend the former Mothercare unit, ready for a 2024 opening.
The plans concerned a two-storey extension to the rear with the installation of a mezzanine floor, new shop front, and associated plant and machinery.
The plans also included proposals for car parking to the rear and front to include public realm, landscaping and associated infrastructure works.
The new store will not be the only business coming to the retail park this year – with Nike Unite slated to open its doors this month.
Catherine Furlong, centre director at Teesside Park, said the retailer’s move to the site will create more jobs for the local area.

She said: “We’ve been promising the reveal of even more exciting new brands coming to Teesside Park and I’m so pleased to be able to confirm Nike Unite as one of those.
“Not only will the Nike Unite store bring great sportswear ranges and new experiences for our visitors, but it will also provide job opportunities for the local area. I’m sure this one is going to be hugely popular!”
The retailer will be setting up shop in Unit 12A – the site of the old New Look store.
