This 25-bed listed country house and former hotel could be yours for less than the price of an average semi-detached property.
Otterburn Hall, built in 1870 – the year The Northern Echo was first published – will go under the hammer this week with a guide price of just £150,000.
The 25-bed home is grade II listed and has 16 acres of woodland, lawns, a fishing lake and river.
Formerly a hotel it closed unexpectedly in 2012 before being sold at auction for £300,000 in 2015.
But the once-grand hall is in desperate need of repair, falling into a dilapidated state over the last decade.
Pictures show walls and ceilings stripped out with the building a shell of its former self. Vandals have smashed windows and graffitied inside while a grand piano leans on three legs.
An auction listing describes the 25,000 sq ft hall as an “ideal opportunity for a developer or investor”.
