Northumbria Police are carrying out searches in Ashington for a "wanted fugitive" in connection with a report of sexual assault.
Stuart Redford, 46, is believed to be in the Stakeford area of Ashington.
Searches are ongoing in the area but it is possible that he could be staying somewhere in the Blyth area.
Northumbria Police are appealing for the public's help in locating him.
They also issued a reminder that harbouring a wanted fugitive is an offence and those involved could face prosecution.
Redford, or anyone who believes they have seen him, is asked to contact the police as soon as possible.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "Stuart Redford, 46, is wanted by police in connection with a report of sexual assault.
"Searches to locate Redford are ongoing. He has strong links to the Stakeford area of Ashington.
"However, it is believed he could currently be staying somewhere in the Blyth area.
"Officers are today (Monday) asking for the public’s help to trace him.

"Members of the public are also reminded that harbouring a wanted fugitive is an offence and those involved could face prosecution.
"Redford, or anyone who believes they have seen him, is asked to contact police as soon as possible by using the ‘Report’ tool of the Northumbria Police website or by calling 101, quoting crime number: 125557X/23
"Alternatively, members of the public can report information anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their website."
