The Kings Arms in Billingham is set to close until late March while "significant" renovation work takes place.
The work has begun today (February 19) and it is set to re-open around the third week of March.
Regular customers can expect a transformed interior and exterior as part of the six-figure investment.
There will be pictures released next month to show the progress taking place.

Updates will be eagerly anticipated as the pub gets the investment it deserves.
A spokesperson said: "A significant renovation to the pub both internally and externally is taking place.
"The Kings Arms will reopen to the public in late March."
