Two people have been taken to hospital following a crash on a remote country road that saw it closed as a car ended up on its roof.
Kilton Lane Road near Saltburn was closed by police just after 1pm today (February 17) following a crash involving one vehicle.
Police issued a statement online stating the road was closed as they urged motorists to find an alternative route.
It is understood that the collision resulted in a car on its roof.
Now, the ambulance service has said that two people were taken to hospital with suspected head and chest injuries and a further three were treated at the scene.
A spokesman for North East Ambulance Service said: "We received a call at 13.18h today (17 FEB) to a road traffic collision on Kilton Road between Lingdale and Brotton.
"One paramedic crew attended and treated five patients; three were non-serious and two were taken to hospital with suspected head and chest injuries."
A Cleveland Police statement earlier said: "Kilton Lane road, near Saltburn, is currently closed following a serious collision.

"The incident happened at 1.20pm and involved a single vehicle.
"Road users are urged to avoid the area."
Police have not confirmed whether the road has re-opened.
