A County Durham location has been described as the UK's 'most affordable market town' - with houses available for £15,000.

In a housing list, Ferryhill has been branded as one of the most affordable spots across the UK, while also revealing it as the most affordable market town. 

The former mining community, which is located seven miles away from Durham City, might have some houses available for around £450,000 and £350,000 - other houses are around £40,000 - and, according to data, have some of the cheapest average prices.

According to research by Halifax Bank, Ferryhill in County Durham is consistently the UK’s “most affordable market town” – with one house by auction for just £15,000.
