A VARIATION on plans to build 21 homes on land west of Dalton Motors, Dalton, North Yorkshire, has been submitted to North Yorkshire Council.
The site, a field within Manor Farm, is located to the western side of Dalton, near Thirsk on the main approach to the village from the west.
Established residential properties exist to the north, east and south. There are commercial site to the east and west of the site.

The indicative site layout proposes 21 dwellings comprising the following: four one-bed back to back bungalows; eight two-bed semi-detached houses; one two-bed bungalow; four three-bed semi-detached houses; three three-bed detached houses; and one four-bed detached house.
The plans have been re-submitted to North Yorkshire Council to clarify questions raised from the developers about sewers and drainage to Yorkshire Water, regarding confirmation over a sewer needing removing or not.

Dalton Parish Council supports the scheme, however has asked for clarification on where surface water will drain to, and concerns over flooding; the already over-loaded sewerage system; school places; and the increase in traffic in the village.
Resident Karen Ward objected to the proposal, and said: "This development appears to fall outside the building line of the village, the land is currently green field agricultural land.

"The addition of the proposed housing estate would add to already increased traffic in the village, thus further reducing the tranquillity and the openness through the removal of current green agricultural land.
"In our opinion the proposed development in its current location would have a detrimental impact on the character and appearance of the village; not respect the existing built form and character and appearance of the village in terms of being a natural infill nor does it maintain the open and rural character of the countryside; and not represent appropriate incremental and organic growth."
