The McDonald's on Whessoe Road in Darlington has reopened after a restaurant redesign to make it "more contemporary".
The improvements are hoping to deliver greater speed, efficiency and choice when customers order food.
It also aims to give staff better spaces to take breaks.
Jonny Nassau, who owns and operates two McDonald's restaurants in County Durham, said: "I’m proud to reinvest in our Darlington restaurant - especially as this year McDonald’s celebrates its 50th year in the UK.
"The dining area is more contemporary, and we now have separate facilities for our dine-in customers and our couriers leading to a better experience for everyone.
"It’s exciting to see the fresh new look and feel of our Darlington restaurant and I’m confident that the changes will not only benefit our customers but also our staff who have all been very complementary about the redesign behind the scenes that will help make their jobs a little easier."
The redesign hopes to better integrate digital sales through the McDonald's App and make better use of the space.
Gareth Pearson, McDonald's Chief Restaurant Officer, said: "The pace of change within the restaurant industry is relentless, and the pandemic accelerated this with digital adoption gathering greater pace.

"Our customers rightly expect to have choice in how and where they order and collect their food, and our job is to ensure that every experience is a great one.
"For this to be the case, we know we also have to provide our restaurant teams and delivery partners with the best possible environment to work in.
"We strongly believe we have to continue to invest to grow, and this investment not only addresses how customers are ordering now but provides us with a platform to continue to adapt in the future, whatever that innovation looks like."
