A rooftop restaurant with stunning views of the Tyne has reopened after a six-week refurb.
Six, at the top of the Baltic on the Gateshead Quayside, is celebrating 15 years’ serving tasty dishes with a view to match.
The restaurant closed after Christmas to embark on a refurb and reopened on Tuesday (February 13) evening.
The menu boasts a six-course taster menu bosses say is one of the most affordable in the region at £54 on an evening £45 during the day.
A new lounge area will serve up small plates for a more casual culinary affair while a new chef’s table allows diners to get up close to the kitchen and watch the chefs at work.
The restaurant, named for the floor sixth floor of the Baltic art gallery it calls home, first opened in 2009.
Charlie Fleming, from the venue, said: “We closed just after Christmas to renovate the space – we’ve completely replaced everything and given the whole place a facelift.
“We’re delighted to have been here 15 years. Before it was very cool and calm, very minimalistic but we’ve tried to make it very warm and rich and elegant.”
