Dramatic pictures show the moment a van went up in flames in a McDonalds car park.
The white transit-style van caught fire shortly before 10am this morning (Tuesday, February 13) at the Newton Aycliffe Services off the A167.
Fire crews arrived on the scene within six minutes and extinguished the blaze.
Pictures from the scene show flames tearing through the van while police stood guard.
An eyewitness said: “There was lots of black smoke. It was parked in front of McDonalds near the queue area.”
A spokesperson for the fire brigade said: “Shortly before 10.05am today (Tuesday), we received a report of a vehicle on fire at the Newton Aycliffe Services, near McDonald’s.
“By 10.11am, one appliance had arrived at the scene to extinguish the blaze. Firefighters left the scene by 10.50am.”
