Five County Durham residents have been fined in court for disregarding community protection notices - and leaving rubbish in their gardens.
The residents listed below have appeared in Peterlee Magistrates' Court in 2024 so far after failing to pay a community notice fine issued by Durham County Council.
Here is who has appeared:
- Wayne Kellow, Station Road, Easington - On July 17, 2023, at Easington Colliery being an individual to whom a community protection notice had been issued, failed to comply with the notice in respect of accumulations of waste in the yard. He was fined £220, and ordered to pay a £88 victim surcharge and £418 in costs - totalling £726.
- Faize Lianne Hodge, of Pelaw Square, South Pelaw, On or before July 13, 2023, at Chester le Street being an individual to whom a community protection notice had been issued, failed to comply with the notice in that in respect of accumulations of waste in the yard of a house on Pelaw Square, South Pelaw, Chester le Street, and in doing so you have allowed the land to be defaced by litter and/or refuse to the detriment of the amenity of the locality. She was fined £220, and ordered to pay a £88 victim surcharge and £418 in costs - totalling £726.
- Thomas Robson Wales, of Wear Avenue, Leadgate, Consett - On or before June 21, 2023, at Leadgate being an individual to whom a community protection notice had been issued, failed to comply with the notice in that in respect of waste in the yard of a property on Wear Avenue, Leadgate, Consett. He was fined £100, and ordered to pay a £40 victim surcharge and £330 in costs - totalling £470.
- Maryanne Osemininvie Jemide, of Queen Street, Grange Villa - On or before June 12, 2023, at Grange Villa being an individual to whom a community protection notice had been issued, failed to comply with the notice in that in respect of accumulations of waste in a yard on Queen Street, Grange Villa. She was fined £100, and ordered to pay a £40 victim surcharge and £418 in costs - totalling £558.
- Daniel James Frederick Blackett, of Hambledon Place, Peterlee - On or before April 13, 2023, at Peterlee being an individual to whom a community protection notice had been issued, failed to comply with the notice in that in respect of waste in the yard of Thirteenth Street, Horden. He was fined £100, and ordered to pay a £40 victim surcharge and £418 in costs - totalling £558.
