Police are investigating after a homeowner returned from holiday to find that their window had been smashed and items had been taken from their house.
Officers from North Yorkshire Police have launched an investigation into the incident, which happened between Tuesday, January 30 and Wednesday, February 7, 2024 on Frenchgate, Richmond.
The incident saw the homeowner go away for a few days, and when they returned, they found a small downstairs window smashed, with entry gained by offenders.
According to police, an 'untidy search' had been carried out in all rooms.
At this time the owner is still trying to identify items stolen.
North Yorkshire Police are appealing for people to help them in their investigation, with witness accounts of CCTV capturing the burglary.

Following the incident, the police force has also set out tips for homeowners that could protect their house and improve safety.
These include:
- Ensure that all doors are locked overnight, and windows are locked or on a latch.
- Remove any valuables from sight and it is advisable to keep house/cars key, wallets/purses, phones/laptops/tablets in the room where you sleep.
- Consider fitting a security light to the side of your property.
A spokesperson for the police force added: "Please do not be alarmed by this information – North Yorkshire is one of the safest places to live in the country however it is important to take steps to protect yourself and your property.
"Your local neighbour policing team can offer the following: Property Marking - bikes, laptops, computers, equine equipment, trailers etc, Crime Prevention champions to visit your home and offer advice, and burglary prevention advice booklets/No Cold Caller posters."
