A violent thug who repeatedly punched his partner in the face before grabbing an empty vodka bottle and battering her around the head has been jailed.
Robert Solomon carried out the brutal assault on the woman moments after he launched a vile tirade of abuse at her while they were in bed together.
The 32-year-old branded the woman ‘a sl**’ before punching her to the head and body before she managed to flee the scene partially clothed.
Teesside Crown Court heard how the violent bully threw a 40in TV screen at her before stabbing her with a fork when he flew into a rage following an argument about how he was treating his eight-week-old puppy.
Victoria Lamballe, prosecuting, said the pair had been drinking together and headed to bed following the argument about the dog before Solomon launched his unprovoked attack.
“He punched her in the face before stabbing her in the face with a fork,” she said. “He was screaming at her to get out of his house and he picked up an empty vodka bottle, she tried to stop him, but he struck her several times to the back of the head.”
Miss Lamballe said the victim managed to escape and ran to a neighbour’s home wearing just a top and knickers before the police were called due to her dishevelled state.
The court heard how the defendant had a previous conviction for assaulting a previous partner in 2021.
Solomon, of Harton Close, Redcar, pleaded guilty to one charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm following the violence of November 19 last year.
Kate Clarke, mitigating, said her client had problems with his behaviour and recollection when he mixed alcohol with his prescribed medication.
Judge Richard Bennett sentenced the defendant to two-years in custody for the prolonged assault on his now-ex-partner.

He said: “You subjected her to a concerted assault which began with an argument before you called her a ‘sl**’ and then kicked her and punched her to the face repeatedly.
“You even tried to fabricate a story about her by calling 999 saying you had been victim of an assault.”
Soloman was also made subject to a ten-year restraining order to protect his victim.
The judge added: “This is your second conviction for domestic abuse on partners, both have been caused actual bodily harm by your actions.”
