Police have launched an appeal following a collision that left a 60-year-old biker in hospital with serious head injuries after they cordoned off the scene last night.
A large emergency service presence was seen at the roundabout junction of Belasis Avenue in Billingham after 6pm last night (February 4) following reports of a crash.
Multiple officers were seen at the scene and launched an investigation around a large portion of the road, cordoning it off from motorists.
Police have now launched an appeal for witnesses and dashcam footage as the man involved remains in hospital.
A Cleveland Police statement reads: "Police are appealing for information after a cyclist on an electric bike was seriously injured in a collision at the roundabout junction on Belasis Avenue in Billingham at around 6:15pm yesterday evening, Sunday 4 February.
"There were no other vehicles involved in the collision.
"The 60-year-old man was taken to James Cook University Hospital where he is being treated for serious head injuries.
"Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have dashcam footage is asked to call Cleveland Police on 101 quoting reference number SE24020878."
The ambulance service confirmed they sent multiple crews to the scene and took one patient to hospital.

A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called just after 8.10pm on 5 February to a person who had fallen from their bicycle at the junction of Tibbersley Avenue and Belasis Avenue, Billingham.
"We dispatched a double crewed ambulance, a clinical team leader and were supported by the Great North Air Ambulance, travelling in their response car.
"One patient was taken to James Cook Hospital."
