A bail application for man accused of killing a one-year-old boy has been refused.
Chris Stockton, 37, has appeared Teesside Crown Court on Thursday morning charged with the murder of Charlie Roberts.
He and the child’s mother, Paula Roberts, 40, are both charged with child neglect.
Charlie died the day after an incident at their home in Frosterley Drive, Darlington, on Friday, January 12, which left him critically injured.
The application was made before the Recorder of Middlesbrough, Judge Paul Watson, who remanded him into custody until the next hearing.
Roberts was granted conditional bail by magistrates sitting in Peterlee last week.
A plea and trial preparation hearing has been fixed for February 23.
