A former special constable is facing a misconduct hearing after he is said to have carried out illegal searches while looking for a family member’s laptop.
Matthew White is accused of turning up at two private addresses whilst off-duty trying to retrieve the laptop but when he was refused entry, he placed himself on duty and conducted an illegal search.
The ex-Cleveland Police special constable is facing two charges of discreditable conduct following the alleged incidents.

The force’s website says the officer is alleged to have breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour in respect of the following: Police Officers behave in a manner which does not discredit the police service, or undermine the public confidence in it, whether on or off duty.
Police Officers report any action taken against them for a criminal offence, any conditions imposed on them by a court or the receipt of any penalty notice.
He will be subject to an accelerated misconduct hearing which held at Scotswood House, Thornaby Place, Stockton, at 10am on Wednesday, February 7.
