Darlington Operatic Society and Darlington Hippodrome celebrate an unbelievable 100-year relationship in showcasing the arts and entertainment industry.
Darlington Operatic Society is a well-loved North East community theatre company and is announcing its long-standing 100 year association with Darlington Hippodrome.
2024 marks the centenary of a special meeting between representatives of Darlington Operatic Society and Signor Rino Pepi, the Managing Director of Darlington Hippodrome back in 1924. Where they signed a formal agreement to present annual shows at the venue, something they continue today.
To commemorate the 100-year milestone, Darlington Operatic Society are set to launch a year-long celebration filled with captivating performances and exclusive events, honouring the rich history and vibrant future that lies ahead.
This occasion is a testament both institutions and to their dedication and commitment to the arts, as well as their committed contributions to the cultural fabric of the Darlington community.
Darlington Hippodrome has become a place of theatrical excellence since its opening in 1907. In hosting many inspiring productions and talented performers the Hippodrome has earned its impressive reputation as one of the most popular theatre venues in the North East.
Darlington Hippodrome’s Programming and Development Director, Heather Tarran-Jones said: "This incredible milestone represents a century of captivating stories, memorable performances, and the power of human connection through the arts.
