A bail hearing for a man accused of killing a one-year-old toddler has been adjourned.

Chris Stockton, 37, has appeared in court charged with the murder of Charlie Roberts.

He and the child’s mother, Paula Roberts, 40, are both charged with child neglect.

The Northern Echo:

Charlie died the day after an incident at their home in Frosterley Drive, Darlington, on Friday, January 12, which left him critically injured.

A bail application was due to be held at Teesside Crown Court today (Tuesday, January 30) but the case has been adjourned until Thursday.

Stockton, of Neasham Road, has been remanded into custody until the hearing on Thursday while Roberts was granted conditional bail by magistrates sitting in Peterlee last week.

A plea and trial preparation hearing has been fixed for February 23.
