Speaking on what they miss most about ‘Woolies,’ residents from across the North East highlighted the shop’s wide selection of items.

Another said: “Everything loved that shop, you could buy everything in Woolworths. Please bring it back.”
While another resident said: “They always had a selection of everything. The kids clothing was good value, not expensive but good quality.”
Another resident, who was left crestfallen when the retailer was shuttered, said: “Everything, it was a great shop, used to get wonderful clothes in there. Was shocked when it closed.”
Woolworth Germany told the BBC: "The brand name 'Woolworth' (without the 's') is owned by us throughout Europe. Should we ever plan to return to the UK, we would scrutinise the naming rights to minimise the risk of confusion. A transfer of rights could help if necessary."
