A top chef will appear on a popular BBC cooking programme later this week, as she attempts to become the best in the region.

Samira Effa, who is the head chef at Grantley Hall's EightyEight restaurant near Ripon, will start on her quest to become the best in the North East and Yorkshire when she appears on the BBC's Great British Menu.

Starting on Tuesday (January 23) at 8pm, the talented chef will be one of the hopefuls hoping to wow acclaimed judges.

Samira will be representing the North East and Yorkshire region, which will see her pitted against several other chefs from restaurants across both of the two regions in several technical challenges.

The work of the chef at Bar and Restaurant EightyEight’s sees her create intricate Asian fusion dishes, to complement the other restaurants based at Grantley Hall, which boasts food from Shaun Rankin.

This appearance on Great British Menu will be Samira's third, after taking part in the show in 2019 and 2020.

Within the programme tomorrow, Samira will be working on the brief of the Olympics and Paralympics.

Before her appearance on the BBC show, Grantley Hall wished her the best of luck from all at the venue, which boasts a five-star resort, spa and 47-bedrooms.
