SeAH Wind has started its large-scale drive to recruit hundreds of new highly skilled positions as it starts manufacturing monopiles for wind turbines.

Working with Teesworks Skills Academy, the company needs to find Welders, Platers, Roll Bending Machine Operatives, Mechanical and Electrical Technicians, Supervisors, and General Operatives for its huge manufacturing facility on Teesworks.

Applications will be accepted via the Company’s dedicated recruitment website (https://hire.jtgo.co.uk/seahwind) where individuals can sign up for job alerts, register their expressions of interest and apply directly for jobs with the Company.

The Company are also going to be holding events in all towns across Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland and Hartlepool over the coming months where more details will be shared about vacancies and training opportunities at the South Bank site.

  • Redcar and Cleveland - Wednesday 31st January 5pm – 6pm. Location: Teesworks Skills Academy, Eston Road, South Bank TS6 6UA.
  • Tuesday 9th April, 5pm – 6pm. Location: Loftus Youth & Community Centre Duncan Place, Loftus. TS13 4PR.
  • Stockton - Thursday 15th February 5 – 6pm. Location: Employment & Training Hub, Wellington Square (opposite Specsavers), Stockton-on-Tees, TS18 1RG.
  • Middlesbrough - Thursday 29th February. 5 – 6pm. Location: Employment Hub, Multi-Media Exchange 72-80 Corporation Road, Middlesbrough, TS1 2RF.

  • Hartlepool - Wednesday 28th February 10am – 11am. Location: Community Hub Central, 124 York Road, Hartlepool, TS26 9DE.

As well as hiring experienced workers, the state-of-the-art half mile long factory is also creating development opportunities to create future welders early this year – inviting aspiring individuals to apply.

SeAH Wind has joined forces with Nordic Products and Services and Middlesbrough College to create two programmes under its SeAH Wind Academy programme.

This will see 30 people put through a 24-week training and development programme with the help of the Tees Valley Combined Authority and its Adult Education Budget. Both programmes will equip successful individuals with the required knowledge and skills to gain employment as Welders with SeAH Wind.

There will also be further roles available with the Quality, Health & Safety, Commercial, HR, Procurement, Finance and Administration departments.

Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen said: “Bringing good, well-paid, green jobs to the people of Teesside, Darlington and Hartlepool is what I want to do and what Teesworks is for.

“SeAH Wind is a big part of that aim and I’m delighted to see their push to get more boots on the ground is getting properly underway.

“We are the UK capital for cutting edge green industry – and the efforts of our Joint Venture partners in getting us where we are today cannot be understated. This year will see more jobs come to the site and more investors putting roots down on Teesworks.”

When fully operational, the SeAH Wind plant is expected to produce between 100 and 200 monopiles per year which will be transported directly from the factory to the new Quay facility, before heading to the North Sea for installation.

Matthew Hart, HR Manager at SeAH Wind, added: “2024 is going to be a really exciting year for SeAH Wind and the Teesside Region. We aim to commence production by Q1 of 2025 and our ongoing recruitment drive will see us hiring staff during our installation and commissioning phase to allow us time to train people so that we can be operationally ready for production commencing in 2025.

“This really is a great opportunity to come and join us on our journey in creating a new business. We are keen to see as many applications as possible from local people.”

Once fully operational, it is expected that a total of 750 direct jobs and 1,500 further supply chain jobs are set to come from the SeAH manufacturing facility.
