Police are at the scene of a burglary with part of a North East town centre street cordoned off.
Multiple police vehicles responded to the raid at the Salam Restaurant in Newport Street, Middlesbrough, at 8.30am this morning (Friday, January 19).
Officers cordoned off the premises of the Eritrean and Ethiopian restaurant on the corner of Harris Street, as a Crime Scene Investigation Unit arrived at the scene.
Eyewitnesses said the glass door appeared to be shattered. CSI officers were pictured examining the broken and window premises.

A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: "Police received a report of burglary around 8:30am today, Friday 19th January, at a restaurant on Newport Road, Middlesbrough.
"Enquiries are ongoing in relation to the incident."
