Two people have been arrested after a suspected assault left a man with facial injuries in Darlington yesterday.
Police were present on Beaconsfield Street throughout the day on Thursday (January 18) with an area a terraced house cordoned off.
Residents reported seeing police cars and vans at the address until about 7.30pm.
Detectives are treating the incident as a suspected assault and the victim was left with injuries to his face. His condition is not thought to be life-threatening.
Two people – a man and a woman – have been arrested and remain in police custody at this time.
Durham Constabulary said in a statement: “Police are investigating a suspected assault which left a man with facial injuries.

“The incident is believed to have happened in Beaconsfield Street, in Darlington, yesterday morning (January 18).
“A man was treated in hospital for his injuries, but they are not thought to be life-threatening.
“Two people – a man and a woman – have been arrested in connection with the incident and remain in police custody."
