Large groups of police, police tape and crime scene investigators were seen going in and out of the Stockton house.

Residents on Oxbridge Lane have spoken about their shock at the incident, with one resident, who did not wish to be named, saying: "I heard a gunshot and I s*** my pants.

"I was concerned because I have kids. Police were there within two minutes of the call."

Meanwhile, another resident described what they saw at the scene, telling The Northern Echo: "There were few police there this morning. The people in the house left early.

"There seems to be some damage to the upstairs window too."

Cleveland Police have now confirmed the incident - but haven't offered clarity about what caused the crack in the window.

In a statement, the police force said: "Police were called to a property on Oxbridge Lane in Stockton around 7.05pm on Tuesday 16th January whereby damage was caused to a window.
