An anniversary memorial service date will take place to mark one year from the death of a 15-year-old schoolgirl.
Micala Trussler has invited members of the community to join herself, family and friends to remember her daughter Holly Newton in a ceremony at Hexham Abbey on Saturday, January 27 at 11am.
Holly Newton died in hospital from knife injuries suffered in an incident in the Priestpopple area of Hexham, shortly before 5.15pm on Friday, January 27, 2023.
A teenager was arrested following the incident and a trial date has been set for January 24.
Following the teens' death, an outpouring of emotion from the community was seen in the form of floral tributes.
This event later this month will mark one year on from Holly's death.
Those who can not make the ceremony can lay flowers at the bandstand at Sele Park or light a candle in the Abbey.
Micala said: "At 11am on Saturday, January 27 everyone is welcome to join our family and friends of Holly Newton in an act of remembrance at Hexham Abbey to mark one year since Holly was tragically killed in the centre of the town.
"A moment of silent reflection will be followed by some words from Curate Henry Hope and tributes from myself and friends.
"Attendees are welcome to light a candle and there will be the opportunity to dedicate special purple stars in Holly’s memory as part of the Abbey's Stars for Eternity installation, which will be open to the public from the beginning of February until the autumn.

"For those unable to attend, stars can be dedicated in the Abbey between now and Tuesday, January 30 and candles can be lit in the Abbey in Holly’s memory at any time during normal opening hours.
"Anyone that feels unable to attend the Abbey or can’t at that time but would still like to leave a tribute can do so by leaving flowers etc at the bandstand.
"Thank you again for all of your support and kindness."
