Beamish Museum welcomes around 800,000 visitors every year - so it is no surprise that it takes a team of over 350 paid staff and 400 volunteers to keep the attraction ticking over.
The most popular paid attraction in the North East is searching for a fresh crop of people to join its team at we move into 2024.
With seasonal vacancies listed on their website, you could be doing everything from frying chips on a period-appropriate coal-fired range, to making decisions about the future of the museum on their board of trustees.
Here are some of the roles that you can apply for right now - do you think you have what it takes to work at this world-renowned museum?
1900s Town Engager
In the 1900s town, you could be working in one of the museum's fast-paced exhibits, such as the Co-op, the houses of Ravensworth Terrace or the garage, engaging with Beamish's visitors. You could also be stationed in one of the retail spaces such as Jubilee Confectioners or The 1900s Town Stalls.
1950s Town Engager
If you apply to be a 1950s Town Engager, you'll be working in a 1950s exhibit, such as the Elizabeth’s Hairdresser’s, The Grand cinema or the police houses, sharing stories and offering visitors the opportunity to be involved in activities.
Mining Life Engager
In this job, you'll be engaging with visitors and school groups in the chapel, school, pit cottages or delivering tours in the drift mine.
Bus and Tramway Engager
You'll be working on board the museum's traditional buses and trams, able to "travel in style" while transporting museum guests around the site as a conductor, or driving the fleet of historic vehicles.
Steam and Railway Engager
You could be working on The Waggonway, Colliery Railway or at Rowley Station as well as other areas within the Transport Team.
Cleaner
In this essential role, you'll be time-travelling through the 1820s and 1950s, ensuring that the museum's exhibits and facilities are spick and span for all visitors to enjoy.
Food and Beverage Assistant
As a Food and Beverage Assistant, you will be engaging with visitors, cash handling, serving and preparing food and drink, cleaning and replenishing stock. It is advised that this is a "very fast-paced role" and involves working in our catering outlets across site including the Tea Rooms, Coffee Shop, and two fish and chip shops.

Over 18s can be expected to be paid £11.70 an hour.
