A man has been arrested after an elderly pedestrian was killed in a car crash in Middlesbrough yesterday morning.
76-year-old Michael Walsh was near Eston Labour Club on Fabian Road, in Eston, Middlesbrough, yesterday morning (January 3) when he was hit by a vehicle just before 8am.
Sadly, he was pronounced dead after being taken to James Cook University Hospital.
A man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving but has now been bailed pending further inquiries.
Fabian Road remained closed in both directions for hours.

Michael Walsh leaves behind his wife, Nancy, and other immediate family. The family are being supported by specially trained officers and has asked for privacy at this time.
A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: "Enquiries are ongoing and any witnesses to the incident or anyone with dash cam footage which may assist the investigation is asked to contact Cleveland Police on 101, quoting reference number 001287.
"Our thoughts remain with Michael’s family at this extremely difficult time."
