An aviation-mad youngster is calling for a new airport to be opened in the North East.
For seven-year-old Max Heming, from Tynemouth, having two airports in the region just isn’t enough.
Max wrote to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) last month asking them to consider building a new airport in his street.
“Dear UK Civil Aviation Authority, can Newcastle Tynemouth […] build a new airport? Yours faithfully, Max Hemming, seven years old,” the letter read.
The little lad was thrilled when he got a letter back from the CAA’s chief executive Rob Bishton responding to his request and promising him a ‘day of aviation fun’ where it’s hoped he’ll get to visit an airport.

Max also received a goody bag he was able to open on Christmas day.
Mr Bishton wrote: “Thank you so much for your letter. We are pleased to hear about your interest in a new airport.
"At the UK Civil Aviation Authority, we like all things aviation, and we are always happy to share out knowledge and aviation adventure with our fellow enthusiasts.”
