A fresh weather warning has been issued for the North East, as the region could be hit with winds of up to 80mph as the region prepares for Christmas Day tomorrow.
A windy Christmas Eve is predicted, with unseasonably warm temperatures for many across the North East and North Yorkshire, though it is anticipated to cool off this afternoon.
Wind, The Met Office predicts, will be especially across strong the Pennines, but also elsewhere will also face gales.
This morning will be covered in early cloud, with a few outbreaks of rain and drizzle, though this should soon clear towards the south.
Sunny spells and occasional showers should follow during the afternoon, making it the ideal time for a festive walk (just remember to being your anorak!).
Temperature wise, it will be very mild at first, but turning cooler. Maximum temperature 12 °C.
Morning into tonight, it will be colder and cooler as Santa delivers his presents to the good children of the North East.
It will be clear, cold and windy through the evening, with a touch of frost possible, before areas of cloud and occasional outbreaks of rain spread east.
The high winds should ease overnight, with a minimum temperature of 2 degrees.
On Monday, forecasters say cloud will continue to thicken from the west through Christmas morning, bringing outbreaks of rain, heavy at times.
Some late afternoon brighter or sunny spells are predicted, and it will be breezy, and rather mild. Maximum temperature 9 degrees.
