The Met Office has today (December 17) issued a yellow warning which spans across the North East.
Teesside, County Durham and the rest of the region has been issued a yellow weather warning for wind by the Met Office expected to last until 6pm tonight.
The forecaster has warned of "strong and gusty winds" which could lead to some travel and infrastructure impacts as speeds are forecast to reach up to 40mph on the coast at Seaburn.
They have also warned of:
- Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport
- Affects on bus and train services, with some journeys taking longer
- Some short term loss of power and other services
- Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges
However, the strong gusts are expected to dissipate by tomorrow as the Met Office has predicted a rather mild and cloudy day as temperatures are expected to reach a peak of 10C.
By Tuesday (December 19) the region is set to see a small glimpse of sunshine but enjoy relatively dry days throughout the coming week.
